CAD Designer

Job Description:

The CAD Designer will be primarily responsible for performing computer-aided drafting and layouts to produce drawings for Ecore using AutoCAD or other similar software. The CAD Designer is responsible for utilizing 2D and 3D CAD systems to provide support to the manufacturing and sales teams. The CAD Designer works closely with the Customer Service, Sales and Manufacturing to produce designs that are manufacturable and economically feasible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute drawings to include: logos, seaming plans and floor plans.  Make recommendations to customers on design changes based on seaming plan to avoid quality defects
  • Work from sketches, specifications, plans and layouts to make all required designs, layouts and detailed drawings and revisions in accordance with drafting standards; setting up and maintaining an organized file system for all drawings
  • Transfer files from CAD to Flowpath water jet program and interface with production on cutting and planning of logo cutting and material requirements
  • Design and draw digital “lab mats” using Adobe Photoshop
  • Write various literature such as Standard Operational Procedures surrounding logo CAD work and production processes. 
  • Use blueprints of customers facility to accurately determine quoting with material requirements for sales and customer service
  • Utilize Adobe Photoshop and AutoCAD to create detail drawings of sports fields that will assist A-Turf
  • Create and manage jobs in Epicor to track project work. This also includes managing open jobs and closing jobs where a quoted job does not develop into a secured job.
  • Maintain logo quote sheets and pricing structure and assist with determining profitability of logo projects
  • Understand material requirements needed to accurately complete logo quote sheet

Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Drafting or similar field of study
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in CAD drafting (manufacturing environment preferred)
  • Proficient computer skills to include: MS Office and  Auto-CAD; MRP/ERP system knowledge is a plus
  • Manage projects in a proactive manner resolving conflicts in order to meet Plant and Sales requirements  
  • Self-starter, proactive problem solver and able to work with limited supervision 
  • Good technical writing and communication skills 
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple independent customer accounts 
  • Must have strong customer focus
