Job Description:
The Sr. Demand Planner creates and manages demand forecasts, drives process improvements, and performs data analytics for Sales, Operations and Planning (S&OP). This position will lead the S&OP process through forecasting, capacity planning and collaborating to meet customer demand while carrying appropriate inventory. Interfaces with Operations, Sales, New Product Development, Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance teams to understand demand and supply needs and to support operational business goals and metrics. This position will utilize our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to load forecasts so we can effectively utilize facility capacity, manpower, and material resources across multiple departments.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create statistical forecasts by gathering, analyzing and validating data; execute statistical modeling software; review resulting statistical forecast model; apply error analysis techniques to improve forecasting; summarize/aggregate statistical forecasts
  • Review sales plans , customer finance budget updates or latest estimates and demand drivers; present, solicit, and assess feedback on the various forecasts from Sales and Finance; recommend adjustments for operational forecasts; review promotional plans with Sales
  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with Sales, Marketing and finance personnel; prepare relevant material to facilitate research and discussion
  • Provide input to volume planning (latest estimates/annual process); facilitate and manage demand planning/customer meetings; achieve consensus with the business side and the demand chain
  • Maintain demand planning system and software by enter and modifying data and ensure the correctness of product hierarchy; monitor trends in forecast error; identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence
  • Leads Corporate S&OP process
  • Analyzes current business policies, processes, and resources; recommends improvements to increase service and delivery while maintaining resource levels
  • Identifies opportunities for consolidation and centralization efficiencies
  • Leads and coaches the implementation of business process improvement solutions
  • Handles multiple high-profile responsibilities with strong acumen for prioritization
  • Coordinates business process improvement initiatives across the lines of business of single or multiple locations
  • Develops metrics that provide data for business process measurement
  • Measures performance against business process requirements
  • Independently drives toward key objectives
  • Analyze, identify and drive solutions to problems within the production/inventory processes

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or similar field required
  • 5+ years demand planning experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • APICS or other forecasting Certification preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
  • Demonstrated leadership skills handling a variety of employee related issues
  • Be able to think strategically, connecting the dots in the bigger picture, as well as being comfortable in the details of the deliverables
  • Must display a strong work ethic and strong problem solving skills (including identification, fact gathering and recommendation of solutions) 
  • Must have strong analytical, organizational, decision making and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Experienced with software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, advanced skills using ERP, experience with Epicor preferred
