Job Description:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for a wide range of activities related to planning, implementing, maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, repairing and continuously improving the organization’s hardware, network and server infrastructure.  The person will be an integral member of the IT group supporting the virtual server, SAN, enterprise ERP, data, voice, and communications networks.  A strong emphasis is put upon customer service to all on-site and remote customers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide end-user support on all desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, printers, scanners, and copiers.
  • Track all calls and support requests thoroughly using the help desk ticketing system.  Prioritize and respond to all requests in a timely manner.  
  • Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions. 
  • Assist with the deployment of Microsoft software, servers, and patches.  This includes Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Active Directory, PC Imaging, and backup software.  
  • Collaborate with IT staff to ensure that network and server environments are well maintained.
  • Monitor all IT systems for potential problems.  Recommend enhancements to IT staff.    
  • Organize and direct work of outside vendors and contractors when needed.  
  • Administer and adhere to network security standards. 
  • Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, Office software, access databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of technology, applications, and computing systems. 
  • Consults with management and reviews project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.
  • Participate in 24 X 7 on-call rotation.
  • Works with applications development in analyzing server and system requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent years of experience
  • CCNA, MCSE, Microsoft Office, certification is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with a range of computer server and networking systems.
  • Basic knowledge of VPN setup, LAN and WAN topologies
  • Basic Knowledge of Windows core networking infrastructures:
    • Configuring and maintaining Windows Server 2012+ and SQL 2012+
    • Configuring and maintaining Active Directory and Group Policy
    • Configuring and maintaining Office 365 E-Mail
    • Configuring and maintaining Cisco Firewalls, Wireless Radios, and switches  
    • Configuring and maintaining VMWare servers connected to a SAN
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining desktops/laptop computers running Windows 7, Windows 10, and OSX
  • Technical knowledge of network hardware and peripheral equipment 
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information in numerous mediums to non-technical personnel 
  • Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software 
  • Knowledge of software laws and restrictions including federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques 
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems 
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities 
  • Ability to provide technical training to end users 
  • Ability to work remotely when needed
  • Proven knowledge on documentation and procedures
  • Position may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported 
  • Minimal travel may be needed
